Chatting Alone

Chatting Alone

I wish that you could help me through,

I wish that you could hold me too.

I wish that all the texts I’ve written,

Would actually go through, to you.

Here today and then gone so fast.

Planning tomorrows together has passed.

I want to feel that you loving me,

will last.

Message undeliverable.

Email address unknown.

No such user exists.

I’m chatting alone.

Every single day new things to tell you.

Screen full of messages that wont get through.

All the times you went to voicemail,

I cant undo.

I still need you badly everyday.

I pretend to know the things you’d say,

If we could just talk again.

Sometime, some way.

Message undeliverable.

Email address unknown.

No such user exists.

I’m chatting alone.

About these words:

I see it far less often now than I used to but there was a time where if you sent an email to an email account that was no longer active you would get an email from the mail server.  It would tell you that the email address that you used was “unknown”.

E-mail address unknown.

Similarly, There was that time period where chat rooms were the newest and best places to hang out. And if you sent a direct message to a person who was no longer online, you would read “ message undeliverable”.

If that person deleted their account all together, you would be told that no such user exists.

my fiance and the first-ever real true love of my life passed away 11 months ago.   but I still write him even today.   And when he first passed away I even texted him still.   I was not then and I'm still not now,  prepared to live this life without being able to speak to him.

At first you get no responses at all.   In time, even that little comfort is taken away, and I was left with the messages that I wrote about in this poem.
